How to naturally detoxify the body
Recent global changes put us in a situation that non of us was ready for…
We spend most of our time at home, cut off from the daily things we are used. It is important to wisely use this extra time and dedicate it to ourselves, our health and well-being.
Detoxification or “detox” of the body is one of the most popular treatments in alternative medicine. Most diseases that occur in our body are due to the accumulation of toxic substances called toxins. Eliminating existing toxins and preventing the accumulation of new ones is an essential part of body’s detox.
Cleansing is beneficial for anyone suffering from chronic diseases and conditions, including allergies, anxiety, arthritis, asthma, chronic infections, depression, diabetes, headaches, high cholesterol levels, low blood sugar, bad digestion, mental illness and obesity. Body detox can be used as preventative measure and as a tool to enhance overall health, vitality, immunity and well-being.
Nutrition comes first
Let’s start with diet. It is the most important ingredient for well-being and a healthy body. We need to make sure that we don’t burden the body with food and unnecessarily consume additional toxins, which will cause even more confusion in our body.
This, of course, is easier said than done, especially given the restrictions on shopping for fresh groceries at the stores. Anyway, our shopping cart should be full of fresh fruits and vegetables, legumes, oat flakes and other great sources of energy, vitamins and minerals.
Make sure to have a balanced diet
Avoid high calorie meals, saturated fats, refined carbohydrates (such as white bread, white rice, white pasta) and sugar. For a well-adjusted diet, enjoy the dietary fibre found in fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grain breads… Also in meat (limited amounts of red meat), milk and good fats (monounsaturated and polyunsaturated lipids, such as vegetable oils, nuts, seeds and fish). Hydration is essential, so drink plenty of fluids daily.
Elimination of toxins from the body
Burdened gastrointestinal tract can cause bloating, constipation, indigestion, abdominal pain, and other digestive problems. If the gut is clogged with waste products that stick to the intestinal walls, we feel bloated and our body is not able to absorb all the nutrients equally well. This depletes our body, leading to a lack of energy, inability to lose extra kilos and feeling unwell. With digestive disorders, we also find it difficult to move, focus, and our immune system is weakened. A gut full of waste products becomes “toxic”, which means that toxins can be absorbed through the blood.
Waste substances (toxins) are the main cause for all diseases and inflammation in our bodies. If the body cannot effectively remove all the toxins, which we take into the body on a daily basis, they begin to accumulate in the adipose tissue, where the body accumulates them for later processing. This task is performed by our liver, which acts as body’s filter. And all filters need cleaning!
By eating quality foods, appropriate natural dietary supplements, bowel cleansing and physical activity, we can cleanse the gastrointestinal tract and maintain a healthy functioning gut. It is essential that the detox is performed as naturally as possible, without the use of aggressive methods, as the condition can get worst, with possible side effects.
It is necessary to detoxify the liver
The main organ for detoxification is the liver, which performs several essential functions and involves processing everything we eat and drink. Fatty liver is a condition when the fat content in the liver exceeds 5 percent. Excessive alcohol consumption, lack of exercise, smoking and often weight gain have a very negative effect. The liver is especially important in removing harmful substances or detoxifying the body. However, there are few ways we can prevent a fatty liver.
