The truth about peanut butter
We all know peanut butter as a spread that is enjoyed in unlimited quantities in American movies and is not supposed to be on the menu of people who follow a healthy diet. Lately, however, it has been promoted as a food recommended for consumption, which can be a bit confusing.
So, what’s the truth?
Well… both! However, peanut butter from the American movies and what is recommended in a daily healthy diet are not the same. When buying peanut butter, we need to be very careful when reading the label.
In addition to peanuts, industrial peanut butters also contain palm oil and a lot of sugar or salt. Such a food is not recommended for consumption, as the combination of saturated fats from the palm oil and plenty of salt or sugar does not have the most beneficial effect on our body.
Be careful when choosing peanut butter! Choose the one without additives!
However, if we choose peanut butter which only contains peanuts (preferably organic, of course), the story is completely different. Such peanut butter is rich in proteins and unsaturated fats, which are naturally present in peanuts, and it also contains quite a bit of dietary fibres.
Peanut butter can be eaten on its own, or used to prepare tasty desserts.
